MEAL PREPPING 101 TIPS

  • Go to the grocery store weekly! Make sure to come prepared with a list so you can be in and out quickly and to be sure you get everything you need in one trip. This will also ensure that you have healthy food around the house on a daily basis. It is also a great idea for those on a busy schedule to choose one day per week to do all the planning, shopping/ordering, chopping, and cooking for the week.

  • Multitask. Cooking stovetop items (e.g. hard-boiled eggs, quinoa, rice, soups) at the same time as baking veggies in the oven, using the blender for salad dressing, etc. Use your time wisely!

  • Start small. Don't try to prep too many different meals for the entire week the very first time you meal prep. Start with one or two recipes and work your way up. Meal prepping is all about making it work for you!

  • Make meals in jars. Jar meals are a great way to create easy meals and snacks that can be for on the go. For example, try out some chia seed pudding, guac, or overnight oats recipes.

  • Maximizing time in the kitchen by creating multiple servings. Always cook more than you need for one meal so that you can enjoy it two or three times afterward and you won't have to spend too much time in the kitchen.

  • Have fun! Meal prepping doesn't have to be tedious... Cook with a friend or partner! Turn on some music, make your favorite foods, and have some fun.
